At Student Minds, the UK’s student mental health charity, we have a clear vision: no student should be held back by their mental health.

With academic pressure, money worries and loneliness, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed at university. Navigating identity, inequalities and global concerns can make student life even tougher. Around one in four students report having a diagnosed mental health issue while at university. Yet in wider society the needs of students are often overlooked. It shouldn’t be this way.

At Student Minds, we create and curate resources, stories and tools to empower students to build their own mental health toolkit. We help students to support themselves and their peers through university life and beyond. Student voice is at the heart of what we do. We aim to influence positive change which is truly informed by students.

We also challenge the higher education sector, the health sector, and the government to work with students when making decisions that affect them, and we hold them accountable for prioritising student mental health.

Together, we’re improving university communities so that every student gets the mental health support they need to reach their goals.

We can’t do this alone. If you’d like to help us achieve our vision, there are lots of ways you can get involved to create a world where no student is held back by their mental health:
